Shoulder & Elbow

Elbow Arthritis

Arthritis can lead to several symptoms including pain, decreased range of motion, and popping, clicking, or a “crunchy” feeling within the joint. Elbow arthritis treatment begins with non-invasive options anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, and/or steroid injections. There are multiple surgical options for elbow arthritis, including arthroscopic debridement and elbow replacement.

Elbow Injuries

The team at Cahill Orthopedic treats a full range of elbow injuries. Conservative, non-operative methods are always used as the first line of treatment whenever possible. When surgery is needed, our surgeons utilize the latest techniques and technologies. Common injuries include cubital tunnel syndrome, snapping ulnar nerve, and distal biceps tears.

Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator cuff tears are a common shoulder injury among athletes and people whose jobs require repetitive shoulder motions. Some rotator cuff tears can be treated with nonsurgical methods, but patients with significant shoulder pain and weakness may require rotator cuff repair surgery. Our surgeons use the latest minimally invasive methods for rotator cuff repair, which makes recovery easier on the patient. Our goal is to help patients get back to their work and sports activities with better shoulder function and less pain.

Shoulder Injuries

The team at Cahill Orthopedic treats a full range of shoulder injuries with both surgical and nonsurgical options. Common shoulder injuries include acromioclavicular (AC) joint separation, pectoralis major tendon tears, and superior labrum (SLAP) and bicep tears.

Shoulder Labral Tears

The labrum is a ring of cartilage surrounding the shoulder socket. It plays a critical role in stabilizing the shoulder and preventing it from dislocating. Sudden injuries or repetitive shoulder motions during sports or occupational activities can cause a tear in the labrum, and may also affect the tendons attached to it, causing pain and instability. Our surgeons diagnose and treat labral tears in the shoulder with a minimally invasive arthroscopic procedure. After surgery and recovery, patients are able to return to work and sports-related activities.

Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Shoulder arthritis can affect a patient’s everyday life and activities. If conservative methods do not help with symptoms, shoulder replacement may be an option. Advances in shoulder replacements over the years have led to the development of less invasive, bone-preserving techniques, including hemiarthroplasty.

Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is a degenerative condition of the tendons that attach to the outside part of the elbow. At Cahill Orthopedic, we offer both surgical and nonsurgical treatment options for tennis elbow, including injections and surgery. We also offer treatment options for golfer’s elbow, a similar condition affecting the inner part of the elbow.

UCL Injuries

The function of the UCL is to give stability to the inner part of the elbow joint and resist the forces associated with overhead throwing motions. UCL injuries can either occur as an acute injury or with chronic overuse. Low-grade tears may be treated with injections, while larger tears may be treated with UCL repair surgery or reconstruction (Tommy John surgery).

Shoulder & Elbow

Shoulder and elbow pain can seriously impact your everyday life. Whether you are an athlete wanting to get back in the game, or simply need to resume normal work and daily activities, Cahill Orthopedic is here to help.

We utilize conservative treatment methods whenever possible. Surgery is only recommended when nonsurgical methods do not provide sufficient pain relief and improved function.
